NOTE: I now write InRoads Training Material as a Bentley employee: My books are no longer available. Storm&SanitaryStorm&Sanitary is an outstanding, robust and easy-to-use program that can create an integrated, accessible, profoundly modifiable, and hydrologically and hydraulically intelligent model in no more time than it takes to draw dumb graphics. S&S provides modification tools which blow CADD-only packages out of the water. Whether you want to increase your drafting productivity or completely automate your hydraulic workflow S&S is a time-saver. There are six levels to the Mastery of Storm&Sanitary:
Our "Mastering Storm&Sanitary" Manual addresses levels 1-3 thoroughly, and provides information on how to understand level 4-6. In our "Mastering Storm&Sanitary" Training we addresses levels 4 -6 more thoroughly and we can address any of your questions in great detail. Civil XLr8 provides a 2 or 3-Day Storm&Sanitary Class, taught from our own "Mastering Storm&Sanitary" Training Manual. Here's what to Expect from Civil XLr8 "Mastering Storm&Sanitary" Training: Drafters:
Designers:
Planners
Hydraulic Engineers in Charge:
This is the best S&S class, from the best Manual, on the market. Pre-requisites: competency in MicroStation or AutoCAD (r14 and up). "Mastering Storm&Sanitary" - the ManualNew for Version v8.9: Caltrans English Structures and data set up for Style Lock. Note: InRoads v8.9 runs on MicroStation v8 2004, MicroStation XM and AutoCAD. Jeff's experience in drainage design and writing major hydraulic training manuals (since 1995, InSewer Unix) shows in this extremely easy-to-follow and informative 260 page Training Manual. The focus is productivity and quality control. "Mastering Storm&Sanitary" is broken down in the following manner:
This
manual presents “structure layout” first.
Drafters and “non-drafting” Engineers will learn how to lay out,
manipulate, and provide QC functions on the Structural model of the network(s).
Storm&Sanitary’s ease of use makes repeated reference to this
manual for this workflow unlikely. Hydraulic Modeling is a far more complex issue, which will require frequent reference to this manual. Rather than intersperse hydraulic information throughout the document, it is concentrated in the second part of this manual. By that time drafters and designer will be very familiar with S&S's "structure modeling" and will be able to focus on the details of the hydraulics. The remainder of the Manual documents advanced or miscellaneous S&S Topics and Tools. Combined with a robust dataset, this is the best S&S reference on the market. Chapter 2 of Mastering Storm&Sanitary is around 40 pages getting familiar with the "InRoads" part of Storm&Sanitary. "Exploring InRoads" is a comprehensive introduction to InRoads, focusing on good technique, debugging skills and good InRoads management.
