Engineering Applications Services Experience & Highlights

Colorado Department of Transportation  Technical Lead, MicroStation/InRoads Production Configuration   9/04 - 2/05
Technical Lead for MicroStation v8, InRoads, InRoads Survey Production Configuration (this was a follow-up project to Bentley's "Base Configuration" deliverable to CDOT).

Technical Lead for MicroStation v8 data management architecture and all InRoads configuration activities.  

I left this contract upon initial release of the Production Configuration to work locally in San Diego, for CH2MHill and CalTrans.

 

 

 

Oklahoma Department of Transportation  Technical Lead, MicroStation/InRoads Upgrade  4/03 - 5/04
Technical Lead for InRoads, InRoads Survey upgrade to version 8.4 from 8.2 throughout the project.

Technical Lead for MicroStation v8 data management architecture.  

Defined architecture and implemented Intranet and innovated Web-based Training.

Provided InRoads Training.

 

San Diego Data Processing Corp., San Diego, CA  Engineering Software Consulting  7/98 - 6/00
Managed Engineering Application Maintenance and Development Projects for the City of San Diego Water & Wastewater Facilities (WWF) Division.

Led the implementation of Storm & Sanitary City of San Diego WWF Division, including

  • authoring the Training Manual and Class Labs
  • leading the instruction of staff and end-users
Led the implementation of InRoads for the City of San Diego WWF Division, including 
  • authoring the Training Manual, and Class Labs.
  • leading the instruction of staff and end-users
Led the upgrade to InRoads SelectCAD v8 for the City of San Diego WWF and Transportation and Drainage Design Divisions, including authoring an extensive v8 Delta Overview and labs.
Logjam Solutions, Inc.,San Diego, CA  Engineering Software Consulting  5/95 - 7/98
Led the implementation of InSewer (Unix) for the City of San Diego WWF Division, including 
  • authoring the  Procedural Guide, Training Manual, and Class Labs.
  • leading the instruction of staff and end-users.
  • leading the certification efforts and coordinated fixes with Intergraph.
Led the upgrade to InSewer NT for the City of San Diego WWF Division.

Helped implement a county-wide GIS sewer model using Intergraph's MGE product group. 

Helped integrate MGE with InSewer so that both products ran against the same dataset (San Diego was the first environment to try this; it involved a substantial amount of code-rewriting by Intergraph).

InSewer/InFlow Certification and Support Lead
  • Led the certification and support efforts for InFlow and InSewer.  Helped develop mixed (gravity/pressurized) HGL/EGL methodology and the InSewer pump modeling.
InSpan Bridge Package Certification Lead.

Certified the initial release of InSpan.

Engineering Experience & Highlights

CH2MHill/CalTrans,  San Diego, CA Highway and Drainage Engineering 4/05 - now
I-15 Managed Lanes, Unit 5, San Diego.
  • Provided Geometric Engineering (Plan, Profile, Cross Section) and Drainage Engineering services  on-site daily at CalTrans as part of a CalTrans Staff Augmentation contract with CH2MHill/Dokken.  Become proficient in CAiCE and other CalTrans standard software and procedures.
Parsons Brinckerhoff, San Diego, CA (contract) Highway Engineering and Modeling  7/02 - 12/02
SR-54/SR-125 Gap Connector
  • Provided advanced InRoads modeling of a complex, multi-stage highway interchange, including retaining walls and bridge abutments. 
Post Buckley Schuh & Jernigan, Irvine, CA (contract) Highway Engineering and Modeling  10/01 - 3/02
Foothill Transportation Corridor
  • Created and Managed InRoads model of 20+ miles of Proposed Highway in Orange County, California.  Model was used for Environmental and Right of Way studies, which included complex side slope treatment criteria (cut swales, multiple benching, exterior cut or fill ditches, etc.).  
HNTB Corporation,Orlando, FL  Highway Engineering, S/W Customization  5/93 - 3/95
I-4/Conroy Interchange - Orlando, Florida 
  • InRoads Engineer for this complex urban highway interchange. InRoads surface model included multiple complex templates utilizing transition control points for semi-independent ditches, superelevation with rollover locks, etc. 
I-95 Fuller-Warren Bridge - Jacksonville, Florida
  • used sophisticated InRoads tools (e.g., Generate Longitudinal Features) to model and report bridge beam clearances.
Ivey, Harris & Walls, Inc.,Orlando, FL  Site Engineering  6/91 - 2/92
Orange County Public Schools Continuing Services Contract (Ivey Harris & Walls, 1991-1992) 
  • Assistant Project Engineer providing site engineering and permitting services for a variety of improvements and additions to school facilities. Typical projects included drainage renovations, additional parking and/or bus loops, and building additions. These projects generally required utility and stormwater permits My responsibilities included meeting with the clients, site layout, utility engineering and permitting, stormwater management design and permitting, and construction observation.
Dieter Engineering Services,Orlando, FL  Site Engineering, Land Surveying  6/89 - 6/91
Spring Creek Shoppes - Jacksonville Florida 
  • Project Engineer/Drafter/Customer Contact for this 30-acre shopping center in Jacksonville Florida. I performed ninety percent of billed hours. Site and Utility Layout performed in AutoCAD 10. Grading and Earthwork performed using D.C.A. (now Softdesk) Civil Engineering Software v10).
